NEW LIFE BORN FROM THE PAST

For over 70 years, Kay Bojesen has brought the smiles of the iconic Monkey to life at home. Since then, new family members have joined and in 2021 another member was introduced: Reworked Monkey.

Reworked Monkey has been designed with one purpose in mind: To use our material with responsibility and care. Reworked Monkey is made from residual wood that would otherwise have gone to waste. It breathes new life into both the heritage and the wood.

The meticulous upcycling process is a mark of great respect and love: Not just for the Monkey as an iconic classic, but for wood as a resource in the Danish design tradition. Today, Kay Bojesen’s designs are mainly produced in FSC® certified wood, while the upcycled member of the Monkey family focuses on zero waste and using the resources that would otherwise have been wasted.

DANISH TROLL ON BAINBRIDGE?

Near our office a wooden troll recently appeared in the forest. Appropriately a wooden troll created by a famous Danish sculptor, Thomas Dambo. This is one of several appearing in Western Washington and around the USA, as well as Europe. Danish sculpture using wood is an over 1,000-year tradition since the age of Vikings.

Entirely constructed of recycled materials, Pia the Peacekeeper keeps watch in our nearby forest park and comes with a philosophy and message of environmental stewardship and sustainability. The artist and crew from Denmark, joined by local volunteers. Dambo said he builds his trolls to generate awareness about what is thrown away and how to reuse it to bring the community together, and to educate them about recycling.

SCANPAN 2023 : PAELLA PAN

It’s back! What makes a paella pan special is its large frying surface combined with its sloping, shallow sides, which allows for the perfect amount of evaporation, giving your paella that sought-after crispy bottom layer known as "socarrat."

In addition to paella, this versatile pan can be used for a variety of dishes.
